UK Guns N' Roses at The Tunnels on Saturday 30 July 2016 - Live Music Review

The real Guns N' Roses need scant introduction, being the American hard rock band originally formed in 1985 with a line-up that included legendary vocalist Axl Rose and the equally iconic lead guitarist Slash. Their albums Appetite for Destruction, G N' R Lies and the twin albums Use Your Illusion and Use Your Illusion II made them one of the most popular and best-selling rock bands in the world, boasting a total of six studio albums and selling over 100 million records worldwide.

UK Guns N' Roses kicked off as they meant to go on, opening with a stunning cover of Welcome to the Jungle that elicited deafening cheers from the crowd from the very first bar, and effortlessly going on to play the band's back catalogue of classic songs with an energy and enthusiasm that made them seem as vital, fresh and downright get-your-rock-on cool as if hearing them for the first time.

The playing was technically adroit and musically flawless, the whole band rocking the rafters to the rambunctious, juiced-up singing, dancing, headbanging multitudes with incredible accuracy the likes of November Rain, Civil War, Sweet Child O' Mine, Mr Brownstone and Live and Let Die.

The performers equally threw themselves into character too, particularly the lead singer whose vocal talents more than matched that of Axl Rose, and the guitarist whose frenetic, Slash-inspired riffs, grooves and funky moves whipped the crowd into an uncontrollable, ballistic frenzy.

Decked out in the sartorial attire to replicate the look of these iconic performers, the band was faultless on very conceivable level, giving the energized and well-oiled rock lovers a high-octane show crammed with wall-to-wall classics.

UK Guns N' Roses at The Tunnels on Saturday 30 July 2016 - Bristol Gig Review

In the late 80s and early 90s, Guns N' Roses were branded 'the most dangerous band in the world' for its so-called hedonistic rebelliousness, and UK Guns 'N Roses absolutely brought that exact spirit of fun-filled, chaos-causing, high-spirited reckless musical energy to their set.

Book-ended by two immortal rock classics -Welcome to the Jungle and Paradise City - the original Guns N' Roses might now be disbanded, but UK Guns 'N Roses have confidently filled their shoes with a musically spot-on show that was jam-packed with an anthology of timeless rock songs and all the rousing, dynamic, maverick rock attitude to match.
