Hanging Market at The Bristol Bear Pit this Saturday 20 September 2014

An exciting new project has been announced for Bristol’s Bear Pit but your help is needed!

A group of architecture students from Bristol are embarking on this new project with the aim of changing how we see the Bear Pit, which has greatly improved in the last few years. Local traders have been introduced and numerous renovation works have been undertaken, and now the newest intervention from Bristol’s brightest young minds is the proposition of a hanging charity market/swap shop boutique.

This idea will require the people of Bristol to donate their unwanted clothes which will then be hung from a huge sculpture adorned with ribbons and will be available for purchase on a pay-what-you-want basis. The money raised will then be donated back to the Bristol charity Emmaus

This money will then be donated back to Bristol based charity, Emmaus, whose aim is to provide accommodation and employment for the homeless people in the area. You can find out more about the charity here: www.emmausbristol.org.uk.

The event itself will run from 12pm – 6pm on Saturday 20th September. The more people that get involved, the more money will be raised, and the more of a success the project will be! Alongside the hanging market there will be a schedule of events, talks and acoustic music during the day and a catwalk toward the end with an auction for the best donations.
