Bristol Sports Report for 18 October 2014

Posted on: 19 Oct 2014

Two wins and a loss for the Bristol teams over the weekend. Here's who did what and where.

Bristol Rovers 0 Forest Green Rovers 1 at The Memorial Stadium - Attendance 7,014 (362 from Forest Green Rovers)

Bristol Rovers unbeaten run, which had reached nine games, has come to an end against local rivals Forest Green Rovers in their Vanarama Conference fixture. A 16th minute goal from Forest Green's Danny Coles is all that separated the teams and with Bristol Rovers' Daniel Leadbiiter getting sent off just before the hour mark for a perceived two footed challenge made it very hard work for Bristol to get anything from the game. They did try though, and Neil Trotman missed a sitter late in the game with a free header from a corner 3 yards from goal! Bristol Rovers drop to 6th place in their league with Forest Green Rover one point and one position above them.

One bit of good news for Bristol Rovers is the attendance of 7,014 was just 5 people shy of their highest of the season against Grimsby Town on the opening day fo the season.

Match highlights:

Shaun Miller managed to grab a goal back for Coventry in the 76th minute with a great connection on a pass through the Bristol City defence. Scott Wagstaff though made sure all 3 points returned to Bristol in injury time running on to a Jay Emmanuel-Thomas pass and smashing the ball home for the 3-1 victory.
