Arctangent bands in Bristol at The Stag and Hounds

Posted on: 22 Oct 2014

Cleft, Alpha Male Tea Party and Iran Iran return to Bristol to play The Stag And Hounds on a pay-what-you-want basis on Saturday 25 October 2014 after playing some incredible sets at ArcTanGent festival in August.

Cleft, who first formed in late 2011 describe themselves jokingly as playing “turbo-prog”. This odd genre title now seems to have stuck. After releasing two EPs in 2012, John & Dan loaded their gear into the back of a petulant automobile and toured around the UK, surviving on service station coffee and houmous alone. When this ran out, they started working furiously on their debut full length release called "BOSH!", which was released in February 2014 and they describe as “slightly better than a kick in the face”.

Alpha Male Tea Party are a band from Liverpool that don’t sound like a band from Liverpool, playing an aggressive yet melodic breed of guitar driven math-rock which nods to the likes of Brontide and Tera Melos. The three piece have toured the UK with Axes (Big Scary Monsters) and have previously played with Adebisi Shank, And So I Watch You From Afar and Tubelord amongst many others. Their new album 'Droids' came out recently on Superstar Destroyer Records.

Iran Iran diligently provide aural filth via a spectrum of frequencies and time signatures, apparently. If you want to know what this means, you’ll just have to go check them out.

The gig on the 25th October is on a pay-what-you-want basis, so a brilliant idea for free nighttime entertainment.
