This half term The Bristol Old Vic have a host of fun and engaging activities and shows for all ages. Back by popular demand, the Great Big Story Mix Up puts the audience in charge of the plot, with a special spooky Halloween twist, alongside countless free activities as part of the Family Arts Festival. AFFIX will unveil their new Interactive Playcube between Monday 27 and Fri 31 October, 10am-6pm – whether you have a toddler, are a teenager or adult then this is a space for you to let your creative spirit fly.

 

This jam-packed family friendly week is brought to a close with The Spooky Ship - an evening of frights aboard the SS Great Britain, marking a first collaboration between the historic ship and Bristol Old Vic.

 

27th – 29th Oct – The Gruffalo

 

The hit monster family show live on stage, direct from a West End season! Don't miss Tall Stories' hit musical stage adaptation of the award-winning picture book, The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Voted the nation's number one bedtime story by BBC Radio 2 listeners, The Gruffalo has been performed to well over a million people worldwide and has even hit the small screens in a star-studded TV animation.

 

The Gruffalo is the perfect family treat with plenty of songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged 3+ and their grown-ups.

 

29th Oct – 1st Nov – The Great Big Story Mix Up

 

A dressing up box full of wild and colourful costumes; A mysterious pile of musical instruments; A treasure chest stuffed with extraordinary objects; A group of actors and musicians skilled in storytelling, improvisation and general silliness...All that is needed to make a play is you and your ideas!

 

Back by popular demand, The Great Big Story Mix Up returns to The Bristol Old Vic during half term and is a totally unique treat for children. Expect wonderful stories, daft jokes, infectious songs and plenty of opportunities for you to join in the fun.

 

31st October – The Spooky Ship

 

Step aboard the ss Great Britain after dark and settle in for a family-friendly, Victorian fright-fest.

 

Spend an eerie evening getting lost and exploring the shadowy corridors of the ss Great Britain at night; with so much happening in every nook and cranny, you never know what might be in the next cabin. In association with Bristol Old Vic, and taking inspiration from the ship's history, performers from Made in Bristol will bring the ss Great Britain vividly to life in never-before-seen, exciting ways; making it a nightmare to remember.
