Six writers selected from this year’s talent call out, The Open Session, will work with The Bristol Old Vic for a year commencing this month, Novemebr 2014.

The six successful writers of Bristol Old Vic’s talent call out ‘The Open Session’ are about to embark on a year’s attachment to the theatre.

The Open Session is an initiative run by the Bristol Old Vic every June. Script writers of all levels of achievement from the South West area are invited to submit their work to be in with a chance of being in the final five. Each of these five will then receive scrip editing support, guidance and access to all the theatre resources, including actors.

This year, six writers were chosen - Timothy X Atack, Henry Darke, Nick Havergal, Marietta Kirkbride, Tabitha Mortiboy and Matt Jones.

Bristol Old Vic Literary Associate, James Peries said: “We selected this year’s writers by looking for stories that got our imaginations going and our pulses racing. It turned out that our chosen six come from Bristol, Bournemouth, Wiltshire and Cornwall, reflecting the reach of Bristol Old Vic’s engagement with new writing in our region, and the wealth of talent there. Agreeing on our final five was so difficult we had to make it six!”
