Nas’ Illmatic is widely regarded as a massively influential hip-hop benchmark and celebrating the 20th year of it’s huge impact on hip-hops second golden era, Rise Records in Bristol will be showing Time Is Illmatic as part of their Music Documentaries 2014 Season on Thursday 27 November 2014.

Time Is Illmatic tracks the musical legacy of Nas’ family life and upbringing, from his jazz musician father Olu Dara, to the socio-political events and conditions that shaped Nas’ outlook and musical content.

It is a tale of scaling insurmountable odds to achieve a life’s dream and creating a masterpiece despite the hardships of growing up in that time.

The screening in Rise Records will be at 8:30pm on the 27th November and is free to anyone. Hip-hop DJs will play from 7:30pm onwards.
