Pyronaut fire boat trips outside M Shed on Bristol Harbourside on 28 and 29 March 2015

Posted on: 27 Mar 2015

Take an incredible trip on the historic fire-boat The Pyronaut this weekend from outside the M Shed on Bristol's Harbourside.

Over the weekend of Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March 2015 you'll get the chance to board and sail The Pyronaut which served Bristol from 1934 to 1973 and was specifically built to protect Bristol's docks.

It was particularly crucial during the Blitz between 1940-41 at a time when the city's homes, factories and warehouses were under the constant threat of invasion from Germany. The powerful water cannon that extinguished so many fires will also be in full operation during the trips, which last around 30 minutes.

For more information and to book tickets, visit the M Shed website at www.bristolmuseums.org.uk/m-shed.
