Breath-taking beauty and all-round hidden gem - Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol has announced a fun filled Christmas calendar of events:

 

The Arnos Vale Christmas Market – 29th November

 

The annual Christmas Market will open on the 29th November, from 10am to 4pm. Enjoy a vast array of stalls selling crafts and gifts by local artists and artisans, yummy food stalls and the Atrium Cafe.

 

For children there's the "Snowman Stomp", a clue-finding trail for kids with a prize at the end AND Santa will be meeting kids and parents in his woodland grotto! You can book the time you'd like to see Santa on the 29th, just click here.

 

There's a raffle too with prizes donated from each of the stall-holders.

 

Entry to the market is free, The Snowman Stomp costs £3, and £7 to see Santa (including a good quality gift!). Tickets to see Santa can be bought online in advance. All money raised goes to the 'For a Lifetime' campaign. Find out more about that here.

 

Meet Santa at his Ski Lodge Grotto – Selected days between 29th November – 19th December

 

Santa will be in his Grotto from the 29th November for kids to pop in, say hello and take home a wonderful festive present.

 

The visit will consist of a magical visit to Santa's ski lodge grotto with a festive woodland walkway accompanied by one of Santa's helpers. Santa will meet with you, read a fun story and might even ask you if you've been good this year! If you would like a few moments with Santa, that's fine your parents or carers are welcome to take photos. Santa's elves will then help you select your present and walk you back down through the festive woodland. The visit includes a high quality gift and instant photo opportunity.

Wreath Making Workshop – 4th December

 

Join florist Laura - a Bristol based floral designer and event stylist from The Pink Peony, for a lovely Christmassy workshop.

 

You will learn how to make a traditional wreath and then decorate it with fabulous natural foraged materials and accessorised with a variety of seasonal decorations.  Everything you need is included and you will go home with a finished wreath of your design ready to hang on the front door or give as a present.  Price for the workshop includes mulled apple juice and a mince pie!

Raising The Roof! An Unusual Christmas Concert – 11th December

 

An alternative Christmas concert... this one has lots of rousing gospel tunes and no carols! This is no ordinary Christmas concert.

 

Bath Community Gospel Choir and friends will be raising the roof of the historic Anglican Chapel (great acoustics!) to help fundraise for Arnos Vale Charity Trust. They promise no carols and lots of wonderful uplifting gospel tunes... with mulled wine and mince pies for that yuletide feel. Not to be missed!

A bar will be open and run by The Friends of Arnos Vale Cemetery. This is not a BYO event!

 

Christmas Memorial Service - Saturday 12th December

 

Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust extends a warm and open invitation to everyone to join them again for a memorial service to remember loved ones at Christmas in our beautiful Anglican Chapel.

 

The Service will be conducted by Fr Christopher Kinch of Holy Nativity, Knowle and there will be an opportunity to write a message to hang on our Christmas tree and light a candle in remembrance at the service.

 

The Atrium café will be open from 10.00am until 4.00pm serving lunches & refreshments as usual.

 

Christmas Carol Concert with Bristol Chamber Choir – 19th December

 

Kick off your Christmas with classic Christmas carols.  Arnos Vale is delighted to be hosting Bristol Chamber Choir for a festive carol concert again this Christmas.

 

Join Arnos Vale in the glorious Victorian surroundings of Arnos Vale's chapel for a traditional musical medley jolly sing-song - suitable reward after a day of Christmas Shopping AND there will be minced pies and mulled wine on hand to help with the good cheer!

 

Familiar favourites and lesser-known carols will be lifting the rafters and getting everyone in the festive spirit on the weekend before Christmas.
