The Golden Lion - First Birthday Celebrations featuring London Calling

The Golden Lion on Gloucester Road in Bristol is a social institution. In its current guise it is celebrating one year of great music, food, drinks and great times. On Saturday 7 May 2016 they will be celebrating this fact.

 

One of Gloucester Road’s more vibrant independent pubs, The Golden Lion has established itself as one of Bristol’s premier live music venues with a reputation of supporting local up and coming acts, as well as touring bands alongside its own regular music and entertainment nights.

On Saturday 7 May 2016 they will welcome ‘London Calling’, a tribute to The Clash. You don’t need 365 to tell you about The Clash, but London Calling, over some 10 years have gigged all across the UK, Europe and the USA.

 

When London Calling are done, and in between said set, The Golden Boys are the Golden Lion’s House Band Extraordinaire. A bunch of pros that dig up the classics and do them justice. A party band for a proper party! All this will be glued together with "Hit the Deck!" Soul, Motown, Ska and Dancehall until you drop.

 

Serving food through their Soul Food Kitchen every day you can take your pick from a selection of burgers and other soul food classics. There's also a selection of real ales, craft beers and ciders alongside the normal range of beverages, The Golden Lion is popular with students and residents of the area alike and is known for the friendliness of its clientele.
