Bristol's hip hop fans will get a unique chance to see two of its most influential acts when members of the Sugarhill Gang and Grandmaster's Furious 5 play at The Marble Factory on Thursday 9th June 2016.

Teaming up as part of their worldwide reunion tour, both groups have been hailed as pioneers of the genre and set the standard for the slew of hip hop acts which have followed in their wake.

Sugarhill Gang made their name with the song Rapper's Delight while the disco hit Good Times made music history by selling eight million records and becoming the first ever Top 40 rap single.

DJ Grandmaster Flash heralded an innovative new wave of sounds and techniques such as fast-paced breaks and scratching, and rappers Kidd Creole, Melle Mel, Scorpio, Rahiem and Keith Cowboy joined Flash to infuse hip hop with a strong sense of social conscience.

Still as vital, iconic and fresh as it was nearly forty years ago, this is a rare opportunity for the city's hip hop aficionados to see and hear true legends of the genre.
