The aim is simple: get out in time. Your group of 2-5 people have 60 minutes to decode and decipher the clues hidden in one of the game rooms before the clock hits zero. The games are cleverly designed to test all aspects of problem solving. It's all about teamwork, mental dexterity and thinking outside the box.

We spoke with Puzzlair general manager Gabor Nemeti to find out what makes this such a popular and highly rated attraction in Bristol...

Hello Gabor, how are you and how are things with Puzzlair-4D Escape Game recently?

I’m fine, thank you! Thank you for asking, Puzzlair-4D is doing great! We have just won the Certificate of Excellence 2016 on TripAdvisor. We won it in 2015 as well now we won it again! So I’m proud.

What is the Certificate of Excellence?

It is a reward for the high quality what we are doing here. The players leave their review on TripAdvisor and I proudly can say, 99% of them are 5 star. I think this is quite good, what do you think?

--Well, members of 365Bristol.com have played five of yours, Gabor and they are fantastic. We can certainly agree with the people who have left reviews.--

For the benefit of those who have never played this sort of game before can you briefly describe  what the Escape Room is?

This is a real life game. We built up different types of rooms (secret agent room, abandoned laboratory, a freaky ghost place, a warehouse and a comfy office). People are locked into one of these rooms and are given a background story as to why they are there. After locking them for a maximum  of 60 minutes, the music and the countdown start. They need to open padlocks, find hidden clues, solve mind puzzles. Some of them are sort of high-tech, some of them are very simple but can drive you crazy!

Who can play this game?

Basically everybody over 12. Except the Poltergeist room, we recommend it for over 18s!

Do you have teams for children?

Yes, we have and we really enjoy welcoming younger visitors. This is a very good family bonding activity. Sometimes we have 10 children playing 2 games as a birthday treat. This is the best for me. Everybody should see their kids to play. They are wonderful.

I have seen you advertise the games for companies?

Yes! Companies are our main clients actually! We think this is the best team-building activity in recent years. They need to work together in small teams which is good, because in large teams you can feel yourself lost in the crowd, but 4-5 people can work and laugh together a lot. And we have 5 games in 2 locations (they are very close to each other) so we can handle 25 people at the same time!

Are there other escape games in Bristol?

Yes, there are 3 more escape games  in Bristol. I think they do well and it makes me happy. In this business there is no competition, because every game can be played once and every game is different. So it is rather about quality. If someone plays a bad escape game somewhere, he/she may not give us a chance to prove that this type of game is fantastic. So I really wish the other games success.

What about the future?

We opened our business in 2014 with 2 rooms. In 2015 we opened 3 more rooms in an other location and hopefully we can open our brand new project within a month, but very hard to find the right place for it. This is going to be something big.

New project? Could you tell us more about it?

Sorry but...not really! Watch this space for something special though. We have never seen anything like that before so I only can imagine the reaction of the players. See you soon!
