Drummer Matt Boggis, bassist/vocalist Eamon Sandwith and guitarist Josh Price formed The Chats in 2016 after meeting in music class while at school in Queensland, Australia. The band name comes from Australian slang and the phrase “that’s chat”, meaning something disgusting.

They released their self-titled debut EP (recorded at a local school) the same year but it was 2017’s Get This in Ya!! that gave the band their big break. ‘Smoko’ in particular hit a chord, with the track and its low-budget music video becoming a viral hit and garnering praise from such rock legends as Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and Iggy Pop.

The three-piece’s rapid rise led to a global deal with Universal and the announcement of an upcoming album along with a worldwide tour soon followed. The Chats’ debut album, High Risk Behaviour, came in 2020 and their sophomore effort, Get Fucked arrived in 2022 – with Price being replaced by Josh Hardy in between the two.

As well as their Bristol double-header, the UK leg of The Chats’ upcoming tour of Europe will see them play venues in Portsmouth, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Stretford, Liverpool and London. Find out more on the band’s website.
